PENDITA@aol.com THE PSALMS OF DAVID 1 David wrote more Psalms than any other man. The psalms were written to become a part of their public worship. The majority of them contain beautiful words of worship and praise unto the Lord. Many of the great variety of human experience are incorporated into their message. Some seventy-seven are attributed to the pen of David. Among his many talents David was a musician. He was a skilled player of the harp under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit until he could calm king Saul when he became oppressed of an evil spirit. 1 Sam. 16:16 His songs so moved the heart of the worshipers that he was called “the sweet Psalmist of Israel. 2 Sam. 23:1 He was greatly moved by the depths of Saul and Jonathan and expressed his poetic grief in a Psalm contained in 2 Sam. 1:18-27 He was also a craftsman and is credited to have invented instruments of worship and praise which were used at the dedication of the Temple when the fire of the Lord fell. 2 Chr. 7:1-6 It is self evident that music played a great part in the life of David. He, with the house of Israel played instruments as they accompanied the Ark of the Covenant. 2 Sam. 6:5 He was also instrumental in appointing Levites to minister with music before the Ark. 1 Chr. 16:4-6 At the same time He delivered a Psalm for them to sing which contains parts taken from several Psalms. It was to be sung as the Ark entered into the tent which David had prepared for it. He is seen to have been moved upon, by the Holy Spirit to utter words of prophesy. He was given the words of a Godly conversation between the LORD [Father] and our Lord [Son]. Ps. 110:1 and Mark 12:36 His spirituality was of such great measure that he was given insight into the future. He saw himself in the presence of the Lord and spoke prophetic words relating to the Lord Jesus. Ps. 16:-10 Acts 2:25 He also prophesied of the resistance that Jesus would meet in His ministry and His ultimate victory. Ps. 2:1-6 Acts 4:25 Other incidences will be noted as we proceed. David is also recognized as a theologian by the Apostle Paul and quotes from him in regard to forgiveness and the gift of righteousness imparted without works. He knew and completely understood the goodness of the Lord in the complete pardon from sin. Rom. 4:6-8 David well knew the hearts of his people, not only in his day but in the days to come. It is a spirit of self inflicted personal blindness and refusal to hear that continues from generation to generation. A stubbornness and unwillingness to commit to the plan and purpose of the Lord. Rom. 11:8-10 He furthermore spoke of the continuance of the rejection of the very one for whom they are looking and longing. David gave an explicit warning of the hardening of ones heart when the Word of the Lord is presented to them. Heb. 4:7 THE PSALMS OF DAVID 2 PSALM ONE. 1:1 The evidence of the individual who is blessed. Some interpret blessed to be, Oh the happiness of the man, who is spiritual. The person who is truly serving the Lord is unique, for they are like Israel of old, saved by the LORD. The Lord who is their shield and sword, their victory. There is good reason to be happy when we are assured of His divine protection and care. Deut. 33:29 Happiness, for the Christian, is correction from the Lord. It is a sure sign of His continued interest and love. The Lord will chasten every one who comes to Him for their blessing and benefit. Job. 5:17 Here is excellent reason for true happiness. A blessedness which may not be purchased or even likened to any commodity in this world. The person who is assured that their transgressions are completely forgiven and eradicated is one who may rejoice in the goodness and mercy of the Lord. To know that ones sin is covered by the blood of Christ is the greatest joy to be found in this world. Just the knowledge that we will never again have to face our sins, which have been confessed to the Lord, creates a happy and joyful attitude. What goodness and mercy Jesus has extended to us. In this world we may have nothing but if we have Jesus we have everything. Ps. 32:1-2 The happy person is the person who has a standard of holiness and righteousness that originates from the Word of the Lord. It involves His WALK, which is not after the fashion or prompting of friends and acquaintances who are ungodly, those without God. How empty and meaningless such a life as that which is lived in a godless manner. Rest assured they will divert your steps from the pathways of the Lord. A life that is consecrated to the Lord brings conviction to those who are not of like persuasion. When Abram was ninety-nine the Lord appeared to Him and directed him to walk in His presence and in a manner which was pleasing to the Lord. Then, also to be perfect. The journey of a true child of the Lord can be in the very perfection's of the Lord. Gen. 17:1 Note Abram was ninety-nine, nine is the number of the fruit, virtues and gifts of the Spirit. Thus a double nine, signifying the gift of the double portion, the fullness of the Spirit. The fullness of the Spirit is seen in the seven lamps or Spirits, actually the sevenfold Spirit of the Lord found before the throne of the Lord. Rev. 4:5 An understanding of the sevenfold Spirit of the Lord is given to us in Isa. 11:2 There is only one Spirit but His work and ministry to the church is revealed to be sevenfold. A good reason to avoid the reasoning and counsel of the ungodly, particularly in these last days, is to found in the fact that there will come a time when the Lord will no longer even attempt to convict them of their sin. He will surrender them to lust of their hearts and give them over to acts of extreme ungodliness and unrighteousness. Ps. 81:12 What is lacking in the enactment of the word picture of the last days as given in Rom. 1:21-32? Walk in the truth of the Word of the Lord. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 3 PSALM ONE 1:1 STANDING in the way of sinners. A path to be avoided. While the Christian is in the world he is not to be of the world. They will establish for themselves higher standards than that found in the manner and life style which is common to those who do not know the Lord as their savior and redeemer. The past life with its practices, customs and actions is no longer fitting nor conducive to a well balanced spiritual life. There is no place in the Christian life for a mixture, or a blending of the past and the present. The call of the Word and the Spirit is to separate from worldliness. Paul wrote to the Corinthians urging them to, “come out from among them and be ye separate.” 2 Cor. 6:17 An excellent exhortation which is for the church today as well. No marvel that there is such utter confusion in this world for “the way of the wicked He turneth upside down.” Ps. 146:9c Compromise, an admixture of old life and new does not work. We cannot serve two masters. One will be loved, the other hated. Mt. 6:24 The bride of Christ will be made up of “come outers.” A people who are totally separated and consecrated to the Lord. In no way, do they “STAND” in the way of sinners. Occupying the SEAT OF THE SCORNFUL. The seat, a place, an attitude, a situation or a gathering where a life is lived or views are expressed. In this case, much like the general attitude of the world today, one of skepticism, unbelief and opposition to everything. Peter spoke of this condition which would prevail in these last days by calling them scoffers, who walk after their owns lusts. 2 Pet. 3:3 The determination of David is well expressed, “I do not sit with deceitful men, nor do I consort with hypocrites; I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked." Ps. 26:4-5 NIV. Since the Lord has seen fit to include David's words in Holy cannon it is well that we use them as a standard for our lives also. Associations and friendships outside of those of like faith can be corruptive and damaging to the one who would follow Christ. Remember the Word. “Evil communications corrupt good manners.” 1 Cor. 15:33 1:2 His DELIGHT, is in the Word of the LORD. The new man must be fed in order to grow. There is no sustenance for that spiritual man like the Word of the Lord. It is a book that is absolutely inexhaustible. There is no end to the revelation of its wonders and secrets. The Lord is only made known, to us, through His Word. There is an answer to every problem which we face in life in the Word of the Lord. The Word gives us a strong assurance that we have been pardoned and forgiven of all our sin. A knowledge of the Word keeps and delivers us from temptation and sin. The source of true joy and happiness is found in the Word of the Lord. There is no thrill above that of having received a revelation of the depths of some nugget found in the Word. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 4 1:3 He shall be like a TREE. The importance of trees to life on earth cannot be over emphasized. Their beauty and stature is pleasant to the eye. So, the Christian life when lived according to the Word of the Lord. The evergreen with its continuos display of life is like the faithful of the Lord who are consistent in their life before the Lord. Then there is the tree that in the fall turns the forest into a glorious display of many colors, then looses its leaves. A tree which appears to die but in the spring will emulate the resurrection of Christ by coming into full beauty and life. Trees help purify the air by removing carbon dioxide while producing oxygen and releasing it into the atmosphere. It is like the presence of Christ in the life, cleansing from all impurities while generating an atmosphere that is pure and healthy. This process is vital to life on earth. The tree is the tallest plant on the earth. Its growth is at the top, always reaching out to the heavens. Trees grow continuously as long as they live. The Christian who ceases to grow is dead. Trees produce fruit, likewise the Christian. Some trees grow to be one thousand years old. The blessing of the Lord to His people is long life. Trees are used as shelter in the forest and may be cut down and processed into a dwelling place, a home. This is but a small portion of the story of the tree and its importance to us. Remember, the man of the Word is like a tree, tall, stalwart and ever reaching heavenly. This special tree, the tree of the Lord is planted [a primitive root, to transplant] which is exactly what we are. We have been graft into the trunk, transplanted. Taken from sin, cleansed, purified and made to be one with Christ. The blessed mans place is by a sure source of water. Note, “rivers,” plural. The double, the full portion. He absorbs the water from the river of life that flows from the throne of the Lord. Rev. 22:1 Because of the abundance of life giving waters he is fruitful, bearing crops that do not fail. Not only fruitful in reproduction but also in the fruit of the Spirit. His leaf will not dry up and fall from the tree. In the leaf is found the process of photosynthesis. The word means, putting together with light. Here sunlight is turned into energy and that energy is released to be the food of the whole tree. The light is absorbed by the chlorophyll in the leaf, the water molecules are split by the energy of the light into oxygen and hydrogen. The hydrogen mixed with carbon dioxide produces the life giving energy of the tree. Light is the catalyst that feeds the whole tree. Excess oxygen is released into the air helping maintain the purity of the air we breathe. The leaves on the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. Rev. 22:2 With such a root system it is no wonder that the ultimate of the person liken to a tree is to prosper. To prosper spiritually is of far more benefit than the accumulation of riches. As a matter of fact, Jesus said, if you want treasures in heaven go sell all that you have and give the money to the poor. Luke 18:22 The young man left Him immediately and with much sorrow. That was not what he wanted to hear. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 5 1:4 The UNGODLY. The peoples of the earth are divided, by men, into a huge number of categories. By color, by race, by language and so on. The Lord has but two classifications. Not the good and the bad but the saved and the unsaved. Those who love and follow Him and those who have not yet found Him and are still living in sin. The ungodly may be an extremely wicked person or a generally good person. Human goodness does not remove one from the state of being ungodly or without God. The ungodly live under condemnation because they have not come to the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ. They have not believed on Him or accepted Him as their savior. They are but CHAFF. In the sight of the Lord but a shell of a grain that has been threshed. Empty, of no particular value. The chaff has come to the end of its purpose and usefulness. We are sometimes troubled by the chaff that is manifest in the church. The Lord, Himself, when speaking of the infiltration of false prophets, asks the question, What is the chaff to the wheat. Jer. 23:28 During the development of the grain, the chaff is vital as a covering, a protection from disease and insects which would destroy the grain. However, come harvest time there is a separation, a division, a differentiation made. The value of the grain becomes evident while the chaff is cast aside, and blown about by the wind. They are in the church and Paul identifies them as being spots, without water, blown in every direction by the winds, their fruit has dried up, they have been pulled up by the roots and they are dead, twice dead, chaff. Jude 12 They are carried hither and yon, wandering from church to church, driven by the wind of doctrine perpetrated by unscrupulous men. Their condition is more pitiful than the outright sinner. Eph. 4:14 The Lord calls for a separation, especially in these last days. 2 Cor. 6:17 1:5-6 The UNGODLY have no status before the Lord. They will be accounted as being unfit and unworthy when called before Him for judgment. Luke 21:36 Sinners will not be able to gain entrance into the presence of the Lord or in the assemblage of the righteous. That excludes sinners from the Millennial age, the thousand years rest, as well as heaven. If in this life they do not like spiritual things how could they possibly like the conditions of purity and righteousness found in the presence of the Lord? The Lord leads and directs the pathway of the righteous. Even they are tested and tried but when they emerge from their trials, they are as pure gold. Job 23:10 The way of the ungodly is but to perish. They are lost, they have no sense of direction. Those who love the Lord are kept by the power of His might. They are preserved. Heaven is their home. They will dwell with everlasting righteousness. The ungodly will be destroyed by the Lord. They have refused Him and His salvation in this life, therefore they are not considered to be worthy of the life to come in Christ Jesus. Ps. 145:20 Each of us, in this life choose our own eternal destiny. Each individual is responsible for themselves, by their own choice. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 6 2:1 The HEATHEN. In the Hebrew, goyim or tribe, people, nations, gentiles, or pagan. Anyone who was not an Israelite, or of the chosen race. The heathen were the unbelievers or the infidel. The question is, WHY are they RAGING? Their rage is another sign of the last days. A companion verse to this places this extreme anger in association with the fall of the kingdoms of the earth. Many governments of the nations of the world are very insecure and under attack by extreme militants. The voice, the prophetic utterances of the Word of the Lord will be heard and fulfilled. Ps. 46:6 This psalm reaches down to the very final moments of the destruction of the topography of the earth. It along with all the construction and works of mankind shall melt. 2 Pet. 3:12 Their fantasy is so great that under the deception and leadership of the devil they will eventually try to wage war with the Lamb of God. That will result in their complete defeat. Rev. 17:14 2:2-3 The kings, the leaders of the nations of the earth SET THEMSELVES, come into a position of opposition against the LORD, Jehovah, and in complete disagreement with His anointed One, the Lord Jesus and His anointed people. They want nothing to do with His Word and have set out to destroy and remove it from every public school and office. This spirit and attitude is prevalent in our world today. Their cry is, let us be free from all of the restraints of righteousness and holiness. Place no restriction on the manner or mode of our lives. Let's us break off and remove all that would bind us to a moral code of any kind. They are like those in the days of the Prophet Jeremiah who said concerning the Word of the Lord to them, “we will not harken.” Jer. 44:16 2:4 He who SITTETH IN THE HEAVENS. The Lord reigning from on high, yet fully observing every motion and act of men. Understanding their motives even better than they do themselves. He shall LAUGH, not from humor or delight. This is a laugh of derision, of mockery and scorn. The Lord has extended His mercy and grace to them. He made known His love for the world through the death and resurrection of His Son, the Lord Jesus. They have totally disregarded His call to them and speak evil of Him. Because the voice of the Lord was completely dishonored and rejected, He will laugh when their calamity arrives, and arrive it will. He will mock them when their greatest fear is upon them. The door of salvation will be tightly closed. Today is the day of salvation. Pathetically, when they call upon Him in the last days He will turn a deaf ear to them for they utterly refused to hear when He spoke to them. Though they seek Him desperately, they will not be able to find Him. He will be thoroughly hidden and out of their sight. Pathetically, we see this happening even in our day. There are those who are so ungodly and totally given over to unrighteousness that their opportunity for a saving knowledge of Christ is quickly waning. Soon it will be too late. Prov. 1:27-33 THE PSALMS OF DAVID 7 2:5 The voice of the Lord to be heard sounding forth in wrath, He will also cause alarm and great fear to come upon the ungodly. The judgments of the Lord have already been decreed. The whosoever may read them and be forewarned. He has proclaimed that He will smite the earth with the rod of His mouth, which is the Word of the Lord. Also by His very breath He will destroy the wicked. Isa. 11:4 His final punishment of the unrighteous and the most ungodly, will be at the end of the age, at which time He will demonstrate the power of His Word which is reported to be as a sharp two-edged sword. Rev. 19:15 2:6 The installation of the King, the Lord of Hosts, the Lord Jesus Christ. Spiritually, He reigns now! Jesus was exalted and situated at the right hand of the Father where He reigns supremely and eternally. God has already bestowed upon Jesus a name which supersedes all other names. A throne, a position, an authority and a status to which all must bow with the confession that He is Lord. Willingly or unwillingly, saint or sinner, those in heaven, on earth or under the earth, human or demon, antichrist and the devil himself will all make the same declaration, Jesus is Lord. Phil. 2:9-11 When we come to Him we are coming to His holy hill, to a spiritual Mount Sion. The city for which Abraham was seeking when he left Ur of the Chaldees. The true Jerusalem is the heavenly Jerusalem. The earthly has been forsaken of the Lord. Heb, 12:22-23 2:7 A public proclamation pertaining to the Son of God. His Sonship is not a hidden matter. The Father has openly acknowledged Him by speaking forth from heaven at the time of His baptism by John. Declaring Jesus to be the Son of God, very acceptable and well pleasing to His Father. Mt. 3:17 In a most glorious and intimate time three of His Disciples heard the voice of the Lord strongly asserting that Jesus was the Fathers beloved Son and that the Father was greatly delighted in Him. Mt. 17:5 The firstborn, the first begotten by Jehovah. Unique and very special. The beginning of an eternal race who will occupy the New Heavens and the New Earth. He will be exalted above all other kings and potentates. He is the ultimate ruler. Reigning in righteousness and justice. With love and compassion in a kingdom that will never more be contaminated by any manner of impurity. His seed, is to be an everlasting, righteous and holy generation. Born of the Word and the Spirit. Brought forth to enjoy the glorious eternal presence of the blessed eternal King. He who is the LORD of Lords and the true King above all others who have ever or ever will reign in a position of authority. Ps. 89:27 Angels are inferior to Him and must themselves worship Him. Angels are not to be worshipped for they are not beings who can declare themselves to be deity. They too must worship Jesus and be in complete subjection to Him. If an angel demands worship he is a demon and not of God. Beware, worship the Lord Jesus and not angels. Some today border on the worship of angels. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 8 2:8 A dual promise made pertaining to the nations, the heathen, those other than Israel and the land or the entire world. The Lord Jesus is the ultimate ruler. The last thousand years of this earth are dedicated to His everlasting kingdom. No one will be in His domain who has not been redeemed by His blood. There will be no other king or authority. The entire globe will bask in His love and peace. There is to be no sin, sickness, disease or dying in that glorious world. The inhabitants are the people of the first resurrection and the “catching up” of the saints. They themselves will be accounted to be kings and priest unto the Lord. Rev. 20:6 Take a look, there is a very special segment of those gathered and participating in the blessings and joys of that kingdom. They are those who died as martyrs for Christ by refusing to accept any of the commands of the antichrist during the tribulation. As a consequence they are beheaded because of their faith in the Son of God and their courage to take a stand for Jesus. It is very obvious that there will be some Christians who enter into the tribulation period or where did these people come from? Rev. 20:4 They are the unwise virgin class, who knew all about the coming occurrences but did not prepare for those events. Mt. 25:1-2 2:9 The rod, a type of the Lord Jesus in several ways. The rod speaks to us of the Word and its various effects on humanity and the world. The rod is referred to in its gentle aspect in Psalms 23:4, as the rod of His presence and comfort. He is recognized as one who was to come as a lawgiver with the scepter of the kingdom. He would be the one to whom the people would flock. Gen. 49:10 It is also proclaimed to be an everlasting and a right or just scepter and throne. Ps. 45:6 This Jesus, the rod, the shepherds staff, will also be the divine measurement that is used in determining the true, heavenly temple. That which is the heavenly bride. All will be equal with the same spiritual dimension as the Lord Jesus Himself. Rev. 11:1 He will not marry a bride that is inferior to Himself. There is a standard that is required for every member of that glorious church. His bride will be of the identical spiritual stature of her Bridegroom. Eph. 4:13 The rod is also a rod of correction, a rod of punishment, indeed a rod of iron. That rod will be seen in the days of His coming when He will destroy ever opposing kingdom and power. 1 Cor. 15:24 It must be remembered that in the day when He judges the earth the nations of the world have become utterly wicked and spiritually corrupt and filthy. The rod will be used against the most vile of all humanity and worldly leadership. The earth and its inhabitants will be totally corrupt. That is the reason for there being such complete annihilation of the world in those days. Ps. 110:5-7 With the sword of His mouth and the rod of iron the nations of the earth will be destroyed and will not exist past the day of the revelation of His wrath. His punishment of the ungodly will be a horrendous time, but an action taken in complete righteousness and justice. The punishment meted is well deserved. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 9 2:9 The kings, the rulers, the potentates, who are wise will lead their followers in the way of the Lord. If ever there was a time when the nations of the world needed good strong political leaders, who are spiritual, it is in these days. These are times of great and eternal decisions. Hosea cried out, asking for a wise man would could understand the circumstances of his day. How much more there is a call for leadership who will acknowledge the right way. The way of the Lord. Who will also walk in that way as one who goes before and shows the people the way of life. Transgressors will be defeated and fall in that way for it is a way of holiness. Hos. 14:9 2:11 Serve the Lord. Give unto Him the reverence due unto His name. There are none more worthy than Jesus to receive the full magnitude of our worship and praise. To tremble before Him in rejoicing need not be because we are filled with fright or concern. The very emotional impact of being in His awesome and majestic presence will often create a trembling and perhaps even a pleasant shaking. Serving the Lord is a great privilege and should be done with all seriousness and sincerity. We are exhorted to serve the Lord in a manner which is acceptable to Him. In deep full hearted reverence and godly fear. Heb. 12:28-29 2:12 Kiss the Son. A kiss in the scriptures can mean many things. The most infamous was the kiss of Judas with which he betrayed the Lord Jesus. The kiss of a hypocrite. A man who had a great opportunity to be a founding pillar in the spiritual temple of the Lord. Amazingly, he had a part of the ministry with the other disciples as Jesus sent them out. Acts 1:17 His attitude of heart was not discernible by the others, although Jesus knew from the moment that He chose Judas that he was a devil. John 6:70-71 More importantly, the kiss is a sign of adoration, especially when it is administered to the Lord. A true act of worship was that of Mary as she anointed His feet and kissed them in homage and heart felt adoration. What a blessed place to be found, prostrate at His feet and manifesting a deep love for Him. Luke 7:38 It was a frequent act of greeting seen throughout the Old Testament, such as with Moses and His Father in law. Ex. 18:7 It was also practiced in the early church as a sign of greeting and Christian love one for another. Rom. 16:16 In some societies it is carried on even today. It was a sign of intimate concern and fellowship between friends such as Jonathan and David. 1 Sam. 20:41 Samuel when he had finished anointing Saul to be king over Israel, kissed him while pronouncing a benediction over him. The combination of the two is interesting. The anointing and the kiss. Would it be too far a field to suggest that the infilling of the Holy Spirit is the kiss of the Lord on His people as He is anointing them. The affection of the Lord is displayed in us by that mighty baptism. There is no ecstasy in life that is greater than those precious moments under the unction of the Spirit of the Lord. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 10 3:1 A song composed by David at a very tragic time in His life. Absalom, [father of peace] had turned against his father, David, and was seeking to dethrone and kill him. This is one of a series of circumstances in the Bible that show us that the worst enemy is from within. As David is a type of Christ, [who is the offspring of David], so Absalom is a type of the antichrist. He was the son of Maacah [oppression] one of David’s wives. Her name would certainly indicate a person with an attitude and that negative. Absalom was David’s third son. There is the man who is spiritual. Then the man who is a common ordinary sinner. The third man is reprobate, base and entirely degenerate. Like the man on the third cross, totally depraved and filled with unbelief. 2 Tim. 3:8 The physical appearance of Absalom was very distinguishing. The description given him relates to the antichrist. He was an exceedingly handsome man. The report given of him on this is very explicit. Physically, his whole body was that of a perfect man. An example that set a standard for all in Israel. He had a head of hair, that when cut, the trimmings weighed about five pounds or two plus kilograms. 2 Sam. 14:26 Absalom was a murderer. He plotted the murder of the eldest son of David because he had committed incest with his sister. 2 Sam. 13:28 He had the spirit of Satan. John 8:44 The day came when David’s heart longed after Absalom. 2 Sam 14:1 By knavery and with he help of others, Absalom worked his way back into the presence of king David. Ultimately, he was permitted to return to the courts of the king. At their meeting, Absalom [hypocritically] humbled himself with his face to the ground while David gave him the kiss of forgiveness. 2 Sam. 14:33 Absalom became a Quisling [a traitor within the camp]. Known in world war two as a fifth column. The enemy from inside. Acting as a patriot outwardly but always plotting destruction in his heart. Every church has them. They are likewise found throughout the body of believers. Jude 4. Wolves wearing sheepskins. Mt. 7:15 Acts 20:29 Biting, tearing, rending with their tongues and mouths. Spreading malicious gossip. Smiling to your face but dangerous behind your back. Malcontents, bitter of heart and spirit. Critical, destructive, looking to seduce and divide the flock to their own advantage. So Absalom had fifty men [the number of Pentecost] run before his chariot. Surely they loudly proclaimed his approach, drawing much prized attention to Absalom. From early morning he was at the gates of the city where open court was held. Subtly he undermined his Father the King and persuaded the people to follow him. He was exceedingly charismatic and of strong character. He has satanic ability to persuade the people to follow him. He was clever beyond human abilities. 2 Sam. 15:1-6 His conspiracy was successful and he was able to lead the people in revolt against David. 2 Sam. 15:12 A servant brought the message, “the hearts of the people are after Absalom.” Rather than subject the city to blood shed and a battle David fled. 2 Sam. 15:14 These are the circumstances of Psalm three. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 11 3:1-2 The prayer of a man greatly troubled and in deep, deep trouble. It is interesting to note that throughout this Psalm David addressed his prayer to the LORD, Jehovah. To know the name of one's God is deeply important. David was well aware of this as he presented his petition to the LORD. Beside his political foes, David now finds himself in an almost intolerable situation where his own flesh and blood is seeking, not only to replace him, but to also eliminate him. From the tenor of his words it must have seemed to him as if the whole of his people had turned against him. He felt the loneliness and sorrow of the rejected, as Christ too was to experience. It is likewise one of those emotions that every Christian must face at some time or another in their lives. It is not a pleasant predicament for any to undergo but is a part of suffering with Christ. Many were saying about him that this time there was no help to be found for him in God. It was not going to be easy David but the Lord delivers us all out of all our troubles. 3:3 With great confidence, David prayed unto the LORD. He was no stranger to the LORD. David maintained a good avenue of communication with the LORD. After all, of how many men can it be said that they were men after the heart of the LORD. Such as was David. 1 Sam. 13:14 He acknowledged the LORD as being his “shield,” The same promise as was given to Abraham Gen. 15:1 and to Israel of old. Deut. 33:29 This is a promise of divine scope that is surely given to all who call upon His name. He knew the Lord to such a degree that he did not look on the shield just as something that was held before him. He saw the shield as the angel of the Lord [A theophany of the Lord Jesus] as that which completely surrounded him and, of course, all others who placed their trust in the living Lord. Ps. 34:7 The Psalmist who penned Psalm one hundred-nineteen also declared that the Lord was his hiding place and that he had placed his hope in the Word of the Lord. One cannot find a better foundation than that. Ps. 119:114 David did not glory in his own attributes and abilities. He was a most talented man in many aspects but proclaimed the LORD to be his glory. What a great contrast between the glory of man, which will fade away, and the glory of the Lord which is eternal. The true child of the Lord will most gladly lay aside any glory that is offered them for the beauty and glory of the Lord. Isaiah expressed it as being the greatest and the brightest of all lights which is the very essence of the Lord. Isa. 60:19 Christ in you is the true glory of the church. Rev. 21:23 The lifter of my head. My encouragement, my hope, my stay. David’s source of assistance and assurance was in the Lord and in Him alone. The person whose spirit is lifted up in a time of difficulty and trial is the one who goes to the Lord for consolation. As they drink from the brook “by the way,” where the waters of life flow, they are encouraged and blessed by the Lord. In the Lord, one can be filled with a joyful spirit and a shout of victory, even in the midst of the greatest sorrow and perplexity of their lives. David did not lose heart but placed his trust in the Lord. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 12 3:4 David sought the help of the LORD by loudly verbalizing his prayer. His prayer came from the depths of his being. The raising of his voice in a cry unto the Lord was caused by the need and desperation of his situation. The speaking forth of a prayer may be the difference between an answer forthcoming and no answer. Salvation, according to Paul in his letter to the Romans requires a spoken and audible confessing with the mouth as well as faith in the heart. The words of the mouth proclaim the Godly sorrow of the heart. Rom. 10:9-10 Praise is also to be spoken and proclaimed. It is called the “fruit of our lips.” Therefore it too is audible. Heb. 13:15 The ultimate of the words of our mouths, in acknowledging the Lord Jesus, will consummate in the beautiful truth that He will dwell in us. This is the very epitome of spiritual experience to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that His completeness abides with us. 1 John 4:15 3:4 He heard me. What excitement, the Lord, the Supreme Being. The God of might and power hears us when we pray. The attitude of the heart is deeply involved in prayer. The Word of the Lord came by Jeremiah and promised that He would hear them when they called on Him. Not casually, but with the whole heart, the whole soul and being, reaching out and crying aloud unto the Lord. There are times when the prayer of importunity must be the mode of prayer. The persistent man, standing at the door of his friends house at midnight is one tremendous picture of we who live in this midnight hour. We must stand at the door of the Lord and pray insistently that He manifest His power in these last days. The man received his request because of his persistency. Make certain that when you pray this prayer, that what you are requesting is in the perfect will of the Lord. Luke 11:7-8 David knew the accomplishment of his prayers and was able to say that the Lord heard him. Not only did He hear him, but he delivered him from all his fears. Ps. 34:4 3:5-8 David expressed absolute confidence in the Lord. He did not toss and roll all night long as he tried to sleep but in complete assurance, he went to sleep, awakening with the sure knowledge that the Lord had sustained him. Regardless of the numbers of the enemy who had arrayed themselves against him, because he trusted in the Lord. He would not let fear control him. He called upon the Lord for deliverance and for Him to smite his enemies and smite them in their teeth. Surely a painful process which would put them out of commission for a while. There is only one true source of deliverance from all our problems and difficulties and that is from the Lord. Salvation originates and is dispensed by the Lord and only by Him. There is none other name given among men for salvation but the name of our Lord and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 The blessing of the Lord is with those who sincerely seek the Lord with their whole heart. His mercies endure forever. THE PSALMS OF DAVID. 13 Introduction. A Psalm composed for the chief Musician. The leader of temple worship. It was to be played on stringed instruments as well being sung by the temple singers. There are fifty-two psalms with this title attributed to them. 4:1 An appeal to the Lord that He might hear David as he called out unto Him. David’s own words and testimony are a response to the request that he has made that he might be heard. In Psalms forty David was to say that the Lord, “inclined His ear unto me, and heard my cry.” The prayer of those who trust in the Lord is always heard. The answer may not come in the exact way that we expected but He does not leave our cries unheeded. Do not forget, the Lord, as anyone, has the right and the prerogative of answering our request with a negative answer. It is unreasonable to expect Him to always say yes to our petitions. Especially so, when they are for some frivolous matter. On the other hand, who among us has not had the Lord give us the desire of our hearts, even without formulation of a prayer. Just the thought of our hearts. He is good and gracious to His own. 4:1 The God of David’s righteousness. David was well aware that he had no righteousness of himself. Even if he had, it would be impure in the presence of the very God of true righteousness. The assumed righteousness of a man is but filthy rags in the sight of the Lord. Isa. 64:6 Man has no righteousness nor righteous standing in the presence of the Lord. It is self evident that David was able to claim righteousness and his proclamation was acceptable to the Lord. It was an imputed righteousness. A gift from the Lord Himself. Even as any righteousness that might be exhibited in us does not originate from us but from the enactment of His righteousness and holiness in us. If there is any manifestation of righteousness in us, it is because the Lord Jesus has graciously worked in our lives and has given us that righteousness which is by faith. Rom. 4:5 Righteousness, is the gift of the Righteous One which He has placed within our spirit nature that with His help and power we may live a life pleasing to Him. 4:1 Thou hast enlarged me. The thought is that the Lord had made a place or room for David. His human psyche would have felt just the opposite due to the opposition that he faced. Yet, his faith and his spiritual man were able to reach out and touch the Lord. Weeping, caused by trials, opposition and difficulties may be our portion and cause tears to flow during the night hours but rest assured that, joy will come in the morning. Due to our follies we may be the object of His wrath but He is the Lord and just a moment in His presence, and the one being corrected, will have all the hurt, pain and sorrow, removed. Ps. 30:5 As children, we stand to be corrected, which is neither pleasant nor joyous, but vitally necessary. It is sure evidence that we are His very own, and He loves us. Heb. 12:8 THE PSALMS OF DAVID 14 4:2 David addressed his words to his enemies. The sons of men, men of dignity such as Saul, the king of Israel and now Absalom his son, the one who eventually might have become a king. His opposition did not come from the rabble rouser or political opponent but from men who should have been able to manifest dignity and composure. Once again, the enemy from within. The same thought is presented in the fifty-fifth Psalm where his enemy is identified as one of his own standing and stature. One who had been very close to him as a guide and good acquaintance. There are no greater emotional injuries inflicted on the Christian than those of another of the same faith. Deep, deep hurts and wounds. Both David and Christ suffered in this fashion. Certainly, Jesus far more than David. Ps. 55:13 4:2 My glory turned into shame. Not only had his enemy caused David to “lose face” but the glory of the kingdom was also diminished with the reproach that was upon David and the kingdom. His reference to their love of vanity embraced both his son Absalom and his followers who were all men filled with vanity and pride. They were deceitful and lying individuals. propagating leasing, or falsehood. Men who did not embrace the truth. It is very evident, from the examples given that the antichrist will arise from within the Church. Therefore we are warned by Peter to take care and know that there are false prophets and false teachers who will arise from among the people. 2 Pet. 2:1 4:3 David offered instruction for those who would be godly. The Lord will take notice of them. He knows the thoughts and meditations of our hearts. When they are toward the Lord, He takes special account. David had the utmost confidence that when he prayed the Lord would hear him. He prayed in faith, knowing that the Lord was on his side. The Lord, well knows what is necessary to deliver His people from the temptations of iniquity. While, the ungodly He reserves for the day of judgment. 2 Pet. 9:9 4:4 Stand back and watch the salvation of the Lord. Let Him fight your battles for you. Watch in awe as He takes control and works out every problem. Avoid sin, whether in word, thought or deed. Many times in seeking revenge for wrongs done to us we sin by allowing our carnal nature to become involved. It is a case of “Be still and know that I am God.” Communicate with your own heart while on your bed through the night. Be at peace, preach to yourself. Meditate on the scriptures. Let the Word and the Spirit calm your heart and soul. Give to the Lord the right and proper sacrifices of praise. He has a way of working it all out to the praise and glory of His name. Offer unto Him sacrifices of worship that arise from a pure heart and soul, not seeking vengeance. Being fully at rest in Him and placing the utmost confidence in Him. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 15 4:6 Can any good come out of this situation? The response of the scriptures is of course that ALL THINGS, good and bad, happy and unhappy, serious and not so serious work together for good. A least for those who are called by the Lord and are not unwilling to show and express a real love for Him. Some reverses are so serious and cause such deep despair that it seems paradoxical that any benefit might be gained by the circumstances. The Lord loves to reverse situations in life. Where there are great impossibilities He brings forth the possible, the accomplishment that simply could not be. He is a miracle working Lord with whom nothing is impossible. Rom 8:28 David was well aware of the source of his answer to the dilemma in which he found himself. It was the glorious presence of the Lord himself. The light of His presence. The glory and revelation of the God who is light. The beauty of His presence shining in our lives quickly dispels the gloom and memory of trial and tribulation. 4:6 Lift up the light of thy countenance is an appeal for immediate attention from the Lord. Its results are positive. It was first spoken as a part of the blessing or benediction which was to be pronounced upon the children of Israel. Having the Lord look upon us while considering our circumstances is an assurance of certain peace. He is the God of all peace. Num. 6:26 David is to refer to the countenance of the Lord again and state that the Lord had bestowed eternal blessings upon him. The countenance of the Lord had made him exceedingly glad. How glorious when the sunshine of His presence and the power of His love and mercy fill our hearts and souls. Ps. 21:6 The countenance of the Lord is mentioned as being a source of help. Any time that the Lord reveals Himself in our lives there is a tremendous spiritual impact and uplift. Ps. 42:5 Israel did not take possession of the land by their own strength and war making capabilities. It was the right hand. [Who but Jesus, He occupies the right hand of the throne and is the right hand of God. Mark 16:19] It was the arm and the light of His countenance that led them and helped them to conquer the land. Ps. 44:3 The people who know the joyful sound, the voice of the Word, walk in the glorious light of His countenance. They are blessed, they are fed, they are encouraged and privileged beyond words because they walk in the light of His Word. Ps. 89:16 Revelation, comprehension, the enlightenment of His Word is for those who will come before His glorious presence, for He will teach them His eternal will and purposes. Ps. 119:136 It is in the face of the Lord Jesus Christ that the countenance of the Lord is made known. To have a vision of Jesus, whether by actual vision, dream or by the revelation of the Word is the most marvelous experience. The church seems to have little conception of how greatly He desires to make Himself fully known to her. We are so content just to have what seems to be a casual acquaintance with Him. The call of His Spirit is to a deeper life where He can make us to be fully acquainted and deeply in love with Him. 2 Cor. 4:6 He is inexhaustible in glory and majesty and is ready to have a people who are willing to consecrate themselves as no other generation of people have done. THE PSALMS OF DAVID. 16 4:7 Gladness of heart, placed there by the Lord. Such a joyous emotion can only come to one who has a clear conscience. While David had many difficulties in his life, in his writings there is that sound of joy that only the redeemed can know. Circumstances need not overwhelm us, regardless of their scope. The activities and the manifestations of the power of the Lord result in gladness of heart. Victory is found in the works of His mighty hands. Ps. 92:4 His joy was the joy of the Lord which is an entirely different joy than that which accompanies the increase of ones crops or goods. What a beautiful statement made by one who has gone to worship before the altar of the Lord. God, “My exceeding joy.” Ps. 43:4 Happiness is not dependent on possessions or conditions but on the presence of the Lord in our lives. We have not seen Him, yet we love Him. Even without seeing Jesus, we believe on Him and therefore rejoice with that marvelous joy unspeakable and full of glory. J stands for the joy of Jesus which He so readily pours into our hearts and lives. 1 Pet. 1:8 4:8 In the midst of great problems, which would cause sleep to flee from most individuals, David had tranquillity of heart and soul and could lay down in peace. His confidence was in the Lord who had called him and anointed him to be king over Israel. Who could override the purpose of the Lord and permanently depose him from occupying his God chosen and appointed office? What a tremendous lesson is to be learned here. If we are where the Lord wants us, then it is His responsibility to see that we carry out His plan for us. Here is a key to the continuity and the completion of a persons calling in Christ. Give the Lord first place in all actions and considerations. Because David had done so, he was able to say, “I shall not be moved.” Ps. 16:8 Perfect stability of heart and mind. No wonder he could be at rest and peace. 5:1-3 Upon Nehiloth, to be sung and accompanied by a flute or wind instrument. It is very apparent that David often composed these psalms as a prayer, a request, a praise or an as worship unto the LORD. It is not without significance that the psalm is directed to the LORD or Jehovah. The eternal one, self-Existent, needing nothing or other signal person. The one who takes precedence all. He is over all, above all and always will be the unchangeable Jehovah. The Son, the Lord Jesus, who has the office of the true High Priest. He is the priest made after the order of MELCHISEDEC, and possesses the same eternal character and status as the Father. Heb. 7:1-4 David also acknowledged Him as King. Jesus likewise is proclaimed to be the King of kings and the Lord of lords. From eternity to eternity, Jesus is ranked equal with His Father. The King of eternity. Rev. 17:14, 19:16 David also addressed his petition to, “my God,” or Elohiym, which is the plural of El [God]. In this manner he showed the plurality of the One God. That majestic everlasting Godhead manifesting unblemished unity, so much so, that without the help of the scriptures the members of that eternal Deity are indistinguishable and seemingly inseparable. However, the Word of the Lord makes each of them known and reveals the office occupied by each. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 17 5:4 The Lord has no pleasure in unrighteous and wicked individuals. Periodically throughout the writings of David and also the messages of he prophets we find references that fit last day situations. Wickedness, deliberate actions of iniquity, vice, extreme sinfulness, corruption and immorality. Jesus spoke of the increase of iniquity as a sign of the end of the age. An age of sinfulness which would test even the righteous causing the love of many to grow cold. Testing times indeed. Mt. 24:12 James waxed eloquent, twice in one letter, sounding almost angry as he lists the depraved and practiced wrong doings of that generation who will be the last. Inasmuch as he was speaking under the inspiration of the Spirit of the Lord, one can understand his fervor in using such blunt and to the point language, for “God is angry with the wicked every day.” Ps. 7:11b Read and contemplate on the subject found in James 4 and 5. He expresses very well and paints an excellent picture of the attitudes to be found in the consummation of the age. 5:5 The foolish, those who say, “No God.” Ps. 14:1 The atheist, the individual totally rejecting the Lord will have no audience before Him, except that of judgment. There is an appointment which every person who has ever lived in this world will keep. That is the moment of the final judgment of sin and unbelief, none may escape standing before the Judge, the Lord Jesus. The foolish are they who make no preparations for that day, they blindly continue in their sinful ways. Acts 17:31 Foolishly they refuse the offer of forgiveness and pardon which is extended to all, now, at this present time. The wise settle the charges against them by presenting their case before the Lord, confessing their sin and asking for forgiveness. The will of the Lord is that all people would come to repentance and that none should perish. Only the Lord Jesus can acquit us and grant a new beginning. This is His plan and purpose for all who will come to Him. There is release from the prison house of sin and iniquity. 2 Peter 3:8 It is difficult to accept the fact that a God of love, whose very essence is love could in anyway hate, but, He hates iniquity, He hates those who insist and persist in doing unrighteousness. He loves human kind but hates their works of wickedness. Note the seven things that He hates about the actions of the human family. Almost every person will join with Him in His aversion to at least some of these things that comprise this list. Prov. 6:16-19. In the sight of the Lord there are only two classifications of humanity. Sheep and goats, saved and unsaved, believers and unbelievers. We all fit in one category or the other. In the end, He will make a statement that He would rather not make, Depart form me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire. A place that was not prepared for the human race but for the devil and the fallen angels. Mt. 25:41 It is not the variety of actions of sin, nor the multitude of sins, that brings condemnation but the fact of unbelief in the plan of salvation which the Lord has prepared and the rejection of the same that determines ones eternal status. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 18 5:6 Liars will be destroyed. Many times their multiplied lies will lead them to self destruction. Ezekiel directed a word toward those who were false prophets in his day and proclaimed that what they had declared to be a vision was but vanity, folly and a sham. They spoke lying divination's or words of utter deception. They were saying, "hus saith the LORD" but the Lord had not equipped them nor had He sent them. With their clever ways and eloquence they speak words, with the hope that what they have prophesied will come to pass and in that manner, certifying them to be a prophet. The Lord hates a lying tongue for it is like the tongue of the devil himself, who is and has been from eternity, not only a liar but the father of lies. He is the source of the spirit of lying. He is the originator of lies. John 8:44 John' explanation of what and who a liar is, is very straight forward and to the point. The big lie is to say that a person knows the Lord Jesus but does not follow His commandments. He is a liar and there is no truth to be found in him. 1 John 2:4 Another evidence that he gave whereby a liar is manifest and that is the individual who denies that Jesus is the Christ, the anointed Son of God. 1 John 2:22 Of much greater concern to the Christian is our attitude toward our brother in Christ, for we cannot say that we love the Lord while hating our fellow Christian. If we do, then we are accounted as being liars, for how can we say we love the Lord, whom we have not seen and at the same time hate our brother. The Word of the Lord is very explicit that one in such an attitude, is a liar. 1 John 4:20 John, on the island of Patmos, was given a list of those who committed certain works of the flesh and exactly what their punishment would be. Among them we read that “all liars” will be consigned to the lake of fire, burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second and very final death. It is also eternal and everlasting. Rev. 21:8 It behooves us to speak and live the truth. 5:6 The Lord detests bloody and deceitful men. The Lord has declared that He will come and punish the inhabitants of the earth because of their iniquity. At which time the earth shall “disclose her blood.” Isa. 26:21 Now we know that the earth does not have blood. Therefore, Lord is speaking of the shedding and spilling of blood on the earth - or murder, manslaughter, suicides, or any means whereby human blood was spilled into the soil of he earth. Note, “The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.” Gen. 4:10 Blood cries for reprisal, for vengeance. The Lord will bring to account those who shed the blood of others. “For He who avenges blood remembers.” Ps. 9:12 NIV. The redeemed who die as martyrs during the tribulation period are seen crying out for their blood to be avenged of those who slew them. Rev. 6:10 There is a blood that has been shed which currently is speaking truth and love. That is the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Today it is sending forth a message of peace and love. Freedom and liberty from sin. Full pardon and forgiveness. Heb. 12:24 But that message will soon change to one of active vengeance and eternal punishment. Today is the day of salvation. 2 Thes. 1:7-9 Correction. Yesterdays 2 Peter 2:8 should have been 2:7 THE PSALMS OF DAVID 19 5:7 David made the intelligent choice. He determined to go to the house of the Lord, for there he knew that he would find the great and abundant mercy of the Lord. He anticipated that the magnitude of the mercy of the Lord would be according to the nature of the Lord. Lovingkindness and very tender mercies, of which the ultimate, the extreme fullness can only be found in the Lord. Not only does the Lord possess these beautiful qualities but He is mercy and lovingkindness in their absolute. The perfect, prime example of their meaning is found in Him and in Him alone. Human kind are incapable of reaching the high standards which represent the Lord and His being and character. Ps. 51:1 The revelation of the nature of the Lord is found in His dealings with the unsaved. Regardless of the gross wickedness of the wicked and the extreme unrightousness of the ungodly, when the sinner turns unto the Lord, He will immediately blot out the past and extend His complete forgiveness to them. There is no other being like Him in the universe. He alone is God, granting mercy and forgiveness to all who will come to Him. Isa. 55:7 5:7 The fear of the Lord. A spirit, an attitude of fear, is vital to true worship unto the Lord. This fear is not that which makes one to be afraid, in this case, of the Supreme Being. Our fear of the Lord is rather reverence and great respect. We want to make sure that we do not offend Him, not in fear of punishment but because we love Him and certainly do not want to insult Him. We are accepting and being accepted into a spiritual, eternal, everlasting kingdom. The customs and manner of living is vastly different from this world. Therefore, we want to worship Him in an acceptable manner with reverence and awe. Heb. 12:2 NIV. There are certain privileges granted the children of the Lord that show how we may approach Him in a proper manner. For instance, Paul wrote, that we may come with boldness; not brashly, but boldly to the throne of grace. That speaks of utter confidence on the part of the supplicant. Throne room accessibility to the throne of grace is the right of every one who is born of the Spirit. Note the positive aspect involved, we “obtain mercy” and “find help” precisely at the time and moment that we need it. Heb. 4:16 The Lord is “a Father who judges each mans work IMPARTIALLY.” That is one magnificent statement. There is no place nor person who will treat you with such justice as the Lord. Therefore, we live our lives here in this world with “reverent fear.” With the utmost respect and give unto Him the honor due unto His name. 1 Peter 1:17 NIV. It is said, that the early church lived in the fear of the Lord and enjoyed a time of peace. Acts 9:31 It is impossible to be overly sensitive in walking in the fear of the Lord. He should be first in every aspect of our lives. He is to be worshipped with the whole heart for He is most worthy. Worship is not to be found in words alone but in deeds that show forth a willingness to do His will, as well. Obedience to His Word and will is an act of worship. The Lord looks for actions as well as words. Worship Him in the beauty of holiness. THE PSALMS OF DAVID 20 5:8 The righteous man and his expectations from the Lord. He may anticipate the gracious leading and direction of the Lord. His path and proper guidance are assured. This man can travel knowing that the Lord is well aware of the path that he is taking. He knows that in the ultimate the Lord will be there to receive him and to welcome him. The man seeking righteousness will request of the Lord, that He makes plain His ways and He will teach him to walk in the paths of righteousness. Ps. 25:4 The Lord has a very special way of making His will for our pathway very plain. How much better it is to know that He is guiding us and will go the way before us. Even when the way gets rough He is there to help us over the difficult places. Too many think that all must go smoothly and without a hitch. No, no, He just lends a hand when we need one and sees to it that we make it through, by making the way straight before us. 5:11-12 Confidence in the Lord will result in rejoicing, regardless of circumstances. Our trust is not in the arm of flesh but in the mighty eternal arm of the Lord. He is our defender in every battle. Victory is assured because He stands with us. A love and appreciation for HIS NAME is vital to our Christian walk and welfare. A recognition, an appreciation, a real love for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is necessary for all who would be a part of the last day Zion, the New Jerusalem. Inasmuch as she is His bride, she will have to take His Name and be known by that name. For those who love His name will be inhabitants of that city. Ps. 69:36 His name is important to both the Father and the Son, for the Father gave Him that name as a means of identification and revelation of all that He was to be to those who will follow Him. It is the greatest name of all time and eternity, of earth and heaven. It is the only name of salvation. Phil. 2:9 The blessing of the Lord is for the righteous and He will encompass them with His divine protection and Spirit. He and He alone is our refuge. 5:9-10 Through the writings of David and his experience we are given a glimpse into the future. Already we note attitudes of faithlessness in the world and in the church. Their words, spoken from hearts of wickedness manifest the evil spirit which motivates them. The word picture of David's psalm reach down even to the last world ruler, the antichrist, and we can see his comportment and that of the world over which he will rule for three and one half years. Words and commands issuing from his throat are words of death and wickedness. Flattery, his smooth and easy talk will be one of his trademarks. This practice is very much a part of life today. The judgment of the antichrist is sure, it has already been determined. Also, those who are deceived by him and follow him will participate in his judgments. Their way of life and insurrection against the Lord are sufficient to condemn them all to eternal punishment. A righteous act of the part of the Lord for they will have openly and blatantly rejected the Lord. They will rail against him and be in complete rebellion. incomplete 21:43 26/09/2004
